On verso: "The tall figure is the bowlman. The white dog is our dog Lady, a great pet of young, and of mine from her gentle nature. The boy leading her is the maratta. The building in the background is part of our habitations, then next are the offices. The scene in the distances is a large tree the native call Col. St Ledger from his having planted it." | Au verso : "Le grand personnage est un porteur d'eau. Notre chienne blanche Lady, animal favori des jeunes et de moi en raison de sa gentillesse. Le garçon qui la dirige est le maratta. L'immeuble en arrière-plan fait partie de nos quartiers, puis, les bureaux. Au loin, grand arbre que les indigènes appellent Col. St Ledger, du nom de celui qui l'a planté."
